AS FEATURED ON CNN: GREAT summer whites!

Aveleda's Casal Garcia Vinho Verde white was reviewed in July 2011 by Food & Wine Magazine Executive Editor Ray Isle on CNN's Eatocracy as a great summer wine!

"2010 Aveleda Vinho Verde Casal Garcia ($8) Vinho Verde really ought to be described with comic-book words: ZAP! POW! KA-ZING! It’s thrillingly tart, with a happy touch of fizz and a kind of cracked-oyster-shell mineral note that makes it incredibly refreshing. Casal Garcia is a classic: Chill the heck out of it, then serve with something messy like shell-on cold boiled shrimp..." View Article!

Aveleda Fonte gets a thumbs up by The Hill June 26, 2010

It’s the muggy season here in our nation’s capital. On days like these, when it seems that gills are required to breathe, it’s time to seek relief in refreshing summer wines. Since the heat is leaving me lethargic, I am going to keep this simple and recommend a single source to quench your thirst: Vinho Verde.

Aveleda Sponsors Clean Feed Jazz and Improvised Music Festival in Chicago, May 14-15 2010

Who said wine pairing is done only with food? Shouldn't your hearing sense be complemented by your palate? The successful Clean Feed Jazz Festival New York came to Chicago for the first time and debuted May 14-15, 2010 in the Chiacgo Cultural Center, The Hideout and Heaven Gallery.

The exciting event featured eight jazz sets paired with a tasting of Quinta da Aveleda Vinho Verde for a refreshing experiential blend of music and flavor!

Quinta da Aveleda Vinho Verde is a lively, energetic wine with fresh notes of tropical fruit and slight floral aromas. The 2007 Vintage was awarded 92 points in the Fall 2009 issue of Wine & Spirits Magazine. The wine has a citrine color and a clear, bright appearance. It is a complex, delicate and persistent wine, and well-balanced. Ideal as an appetizer or to accompany fish, Italian cuisine or light meat dishes. The last three vintages of Aveleda’s Quinta da Aveleda Vinho Verde were all highly scored and add to a long list of international medals and top ratings, an evidence of the consistent quality of Aveleda’s wines.

Aveleda Charamba Douro reviewed on

Thursday, February 18, 2010
Nose:A smooth and fruity nose reminiscent of the Spanish Tempranillo grape, some earth and oaky acorn notes are most dominant. Vibrant and enticing.
Palate:firm and youthful acids play about an understated tannin core. Very accessible but definitely young.
Finish: Acorn and Vanilla Cherry finish off very quickly leaving a green apple peel flavor at the very back of the tongue.
Overall: This delightfully youthful mix of grapes from the Douro region of Portugal still looks very young in the glass with a spry purple hue. The nose of the Charamba is wonderful and has enough facets to keep the wine lovers in your life enthusiastic. The palate is not complex which keeps this wine in the easy drinking and have a bottle on hand category. The finish is short but nice and keeps the Charamba balanced. A solid every day drinking wine for a very reasonable price. This wine was sent to The Wine Cask Blog for review by PortugalWines.Org. It retails for anywhere from $7-$12 online and you should ask your local wine store to get a case or two in stock. The 2007 Charamba is accessible and easy going. It is not a complex wine but that makes it easy to enjoy. It's youthful character and easy-on-the-wallet price point mean that it is pleasant to drink and pleasant to share. Raise a Glass to Portugal!
