The beautiful fountain shown on the label is dedicated to Our Lady of Vendôme, saint patron of Oporto. For this special blend, Our Lady of Vendôme pays tribute to its origin (France) with the Cabernet Sauvignon and for the famous grape variety characteristic of the Port wine, the Touriga Nacional melted in a surprising blend.
This elegant wine blends rich dark berry fruit, with a sophisticated structure of ripe tannins. The fine structure of Cabernet Sauvignon is given depth in glorious style with the intense plum and blackberry fruit typical of the Touriga Nacional, a native Portuguese grape variety. This is an elegant, full-bodied wine.
The vibrant fruit flavors and good acidity of this wine make it an excellent match with a wide range of foods, including tomato-based dishes, grilled meats, poultry, wild mushroom risotto and aged cheese. Serve between 16 and 18ºC.
The vines are planted in sandy loam topsoil with subsoil formed of rolled
rocks and clay. They are trained in an ascending cordon. The vines are pruned
by the Guyot method, excess branches and leaves are removed and the vines
are trained to aid in the maturation of the grapes.
The best grapes of the Cabernet Sauvignon and Touriga Nacional varieties
are carefully selected from the Quinta da Aguieira vineyards. Picked separately when their maturation peak is reached, the grapes are then gently
transported to the winery where they are submitted to maceration and
fermentation at controlled temperatures. After aging for 12 months in French and American oak barrels, the wines are blended and aged in the bottle for another 8 months. Awards:
- Wine Enthusiast
91.0 Points | 2010 From the aroma, this seems heavily wooded, but on the palate the wood spice is becoming well integrated with the dark berry fruits and mineral texture. It is certainly young. Already, though, the fruit is showing its potential richness.
